Frequently Asked Questions

 

Do you ship outside of Florida?  
A: Yes, we ship on our own shelved trucks to Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi and Louisiana.

How often do you ship to my area?  
A: If you are within 300 miles of Gainesville FL, we ship to your area at least once a week on a regular schedule. If you are further away, our trucks will come to your area every other week. To view our delivery schedule, click on "Delivery".

Can you find plants for me that are not in your catalogue?  
A: Yes. Given sufficient lead time, we can broker in hard-to-find items.

Can I send my trucks to the nursery to pick up?  
A: We encourage customers to come to Grandiflora and pick up orders. You are welcome to tag or hand-pick the plants you want. We also give a 5% discount for pick-up.

How do I place an order?  
A: You may come to the nursery, phone or fax in your order, or even place an order through this web site. New customers must supply us with basic information (see "Application" in "Become a Customer"). Those wishing to establish credit must fill out our Credit Application.

How can I see samples of your product?  
A: To see our plants, you may visit the nursery, stop in at out trade show booths, request a salesman to bring by samples, or look at photos in our catalogue or on our web site.

How can I find out what plants are currently available?  
A: You can request that our Availability Sheet be faxed to you by calling toll-free (877) 809-6398 or by clicking on the "Product Availability" button at the upper right side of this page. Availability is updated every Friday. You may also call toll-free (800) 933-9638 and talk to a salesman. They have the most current inventory at their fingertips.

Do you take credit cards?  
A: Although we prefer cash, checks, or money orders, we will accept payment with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express cards.

How do I know whether a particular plant will grow here?  
A: Look in our print catalogue or in the Products section of this web site for zonal information in the plant's description. Then check our Plant Hardiness Zone Map to see what climatic zone you are located in.

What trade shows do you exhibit at?  
A: Currently, we participate in trade shows in Athens GA (Wintergreen), Myrtle Beach SC (SCHI), Mobile AL (Gulf States Hort Expo),  Greenville SC (Southeast Greenhouse Conference), and Orlando FL (The Landscape Show, FNATS).

What size plants do you handle?  
A: Annuals in 4" pots and hanging baskets; herbs, perennials, and ferns in 4.5" pots; shrubs, topiaries, and trees from 1 to 15 gallon pots; flowering vines, perennials, aquatics, ornamental grasses, and groundcovers in 1 and 3 gallon pots; and, poinsettias in 6" and 8" pots.

Do you sell plants for butterfly gardens?  
A: That's one of our specialties. We sell both larval and nectar plants for many butterfly varieties. Among the most popular butterfly attractors that we sell are: buddleia, lantana, salvia, ruellia, odontonema, passiflora, and cuphea.

Do you carry natives?  
A: Yes. We carry many plants that are native to Florida and the Southeast. We carry shrubs, trees, vines, and blooming herbaceous plants that are native.

What about the fire ant quarantine?  
A: We do not incorporate pesticides in our potting soil. If you are within the fire ant quarantine area, this does not affect you. If you are outside of the fire ant zone, we can treat your order by drenching it with the approved chemical before shipment or pick up. There is a 5% surcharge for drenching a shipment.

Where do you deliver to?  
A: We ship on our own trucks regularly in 7 states: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Louisiana.

Do you carry plants that will grow in wet spots?  
A: We carry a full line of shrubs, trees, and perennials that will thrive in wet locations. In product desriptions in our catalogue, these plants are marked with an "A" for Aquatic to indicate their tolerance of wet feet.

Do you treat your plants with dangerous chemicals?  
A: We do spray our plants with pesticides, miticides, and fungicides, but we never use restricted pesticides. We try to control pests and diseases through IPM, good sanitation practices, and using the safest chemicals possible. For insect control, for example, we try to stick with soaps, oils, and biologicals.
